JOB POSTING – Russian Jewish Adult Day Program Coordinator

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Manager of the Thelma Steinman Seniors Support Services (TSU), the Russian Adult Day Program Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day functioning of the Russian adult day programs, the planning and implementation of activities, and promotion and outreach of the programs to the community at large.

Part time 17.5 hours/week

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day functioning of day programs
  • Comprehensive intake and assessment of new clients to determine program eligibility
  • Develop and implement creative and innovative activities to address clients social, physical, and spiritual needs in a safe environment
  • Monitor client abilities, health and overall functioning to create individualized care plans
  • Manage the budget: review monthly expenses, staff financial requisitions and client invoices
  • Communicate regularly with caregivers, family members, and social workers
  • Responsible for session preparation, organization and cleanliness of program areas
  • Ensure that food is handled according to agency kashrut policies and food handling policies
  • Participate in scheduled unit meetings
  • Perform outreach to new clients and referral sources

Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary Education in Gerontology, Recreation, Social Work or Equivalent
  • Fluent in Russian and English
  • Knowledge, understanding, and experience working with seniors experiencing cognitive impairments
  • Strong interpersonal relationship building and problem solving skills
  • Minimum one year related experience in facilitating groups and programs for ageing seniors with cognitive impairments
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of  Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and CIMS
  • Ability to work independently and with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Familiarity with Jewish holidays, culture and traditions
  • Sensitivity and familiarity working with Holocaust survivors and the issues that may be present
