Ten percent of the Ottawa Jewish community lives in poverty and poverty does not discriminate. It affects children, teenagers, adults, and seniors. No one should have to choose between food, shelter and medical care, but many people in our community are forced to make these decisions daily.

The gap between the crisis and the solution continues to grow.

Communal, Municipal, Provincial, and Federal assistance are slowly being scaled back while the need continues to escalate.

Jewish Family Services remains a pillar in the Jewish community and despite cutbacks and economically challenging times, JFS remains committed to helping all who are in need.

Whether it is an acute crisis or a longer term challenge, with your support, we will continue to stand by our pledge; “We will never turn away a Jewish person in need”.

Together, we strive to make conditions better for children who watch parents struggle to make ends meet. Together, we work daily to put a nutritious and healthy meal on every table. Together, we listen, we plan, and then do what is needed.
